I love Travis Wall and Amy Yakima's contemporary routine to Wicked Game.
It is one of those performances I have watched as an online audience member and, somewhere in my imagination, as the dancer too. I have lost count of how many times I have dreamt of dancing this routine myself.
There is something incredibly intimate about contemporary dance. It can say so much without demanding attention. A pause, a breath, the smallest movement, the way two bodies find and lose each other in space. The intensity comes through subtlety. Uff...
This performance was broadcast more than a decade ago, and somehow, it still gives me goosebumps. I wonder what Amy and Travis are doing today, and where their dancing has taken them since this performance.
Some performances entertain you. Some stay somewhere inside you. This one stayed for 13 years and still counting! 😍
